It is stated that you can become a villain , or a hero. Christian Bale is now a villain, this time for Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. The antagonist is strong. The plot follows the comic book storyline and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is returning. Taika Waititi’s humorous wit is obvious. Love and Thunder is a movie that is a stand-alone that doesn’t meet the standards of Thor: Ragnarok (2017).

Thor has been a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over 10 years, however his solo films have either missed the mark completely or did not hit the bullseye. While the story of his origins, Thor (2011) was good enough to get the ball rolling, Thor: The Dark World (2013) was an utterly awful film. However, every list of top five MCU films will include Thor: Ragnarok (2017) absolutely. There was a lot of anticipation ahead of the film’s release due to the returning of the Hemsworth/Taika Warwick collaboration.
When Gorr (Bale) the god of war, who is determined to eliminate gods after being cheated by one, decides to striking New Asgard to steal the Stormbreaker, Thor has to stop the god killer by forming a team with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Waititi) and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who has been transformed into Mighty Thor. The plot is straightforward unlike recent Marvel movies and the actors are great in this film. Hemsworth does a fantastic job as the protagonist who is experiencing a midlife crisis, but Bale and Portman make an impact. As evidence of Bale’s abilities, the pre-title credit scene stands. Gorr could be the new Thanos within the MCU. Bale adds a an eerie quality to the character , but it’s not much more than that.
Portman is Mjolnir’s ex-girlfriend who has cancer. In light of the fact that Marvel seems to be eager to hand over the roles of Hawkeye and, in a couple of months, Hulk, to women characters, I expected that the Mighty Thor to be a similar tick mark on the representation checklist. But, the film sets the story of this scientist who gets to showcase her biceps in multiple scenes.
Marvel also has its own acting in all of the cameos. In addition to the entire Guardians of the Galaxy team We also have Matt Damon, Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth reprising their roles from Thor: Ragnarok as Loki, Odin, and Thor respectively. Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone are also known as Hela and director for the Asgardian play. Waititi who has since Ragnarok has directed Jojo, the Oscar-winning Rabbit, is back in his favorite genre again. There are hilarious ideas like two noisy goats Korg’s narration of Thor’s story, Thor doing leg-splits, Valkyrie becoming the brand ambassador for Old Spice…
The premise is that Thor wants to find his Mjolnir but is scared of the jealousy of Stormbreaker. However, these gags, though effective, are at the expense emotions, and reveal the thin plot. Thor: Love and Thunder is a film that explores many different types of affection, from father-daughter relationships to intricate romances between distant lovers… There is a parallel between Gorr losing respect for Rapu and Thor being disillusioned by Zeus (played here by Russell Crowe). There are many movie references like Harry Potter and Interstellar, and also Easter eggs. The image of Falligar, the dead god that is featured straight from comics. We see Hemsworth sporting the first of the Thor costume that comic-book readers recognize. During a fight with Zeus, Thor reveals his true colours. We also see a tattoo that reads “RIP Loki The helmet of the trickster on our Viking’s back. The dark Necrosword is revealed and it’s interesting to see how many weapons are shown as able to manipulate people, especially given how Stormbreaker and Mjolnir seem to possess their own minds.
What we saw the ten rings of ShangChi, Ms Marvel’s magical Bangle as well as the Ebony blade during the Eternals post-credits scene. The line “Gods are not empowering you, but they will use to use you” from the new Marvel show, Moonknight, feels very familiar. There’s a reference to Valkyrie losing her beloved girlfriend in the midst of war, and Korg finding love with another Kronan man.
We’re reminded of Ragnarok’s color palette in the beginning section, however, the majority of the second half takes place in the dark world of black and white. It must be said though that the action scenes shot in monochrome are very enjoyable.
Hemsworth continues to continue to Thor This will be a huge relief to MCU fans who’ve watched the original Avengers die or hang their heads.
